| International Peace Day Unveiled the amazing new Peace Stone memorial in Richards Park on International Peace Day September 21. Mayor Hazel McCallum
The recently unveiled Peace Stone sculpture is located in Richard’s Memorial Park in Port Credit. The sculpture is made out of marble and is 5 feet in height. It was sculpted by Richard Carbinaro.
| |
| The words on the sculpture are “Planet Earth is our Home, Humanity is our Family”. The Peace Stone was the idea of Dorothea Sheasby, a local citizen who had asked city council for years to have a place where people could simply sit, ponder and meditate over world peace. Several other local businesses contributed by donating materials to make the beautiful piece of art for everyone in the community and abroad to enjoy. | |
| RICHARDS PARK, Port Credt In the middle of the sculpture is the Registry of the World Citizens’ logo which shows an iron person, arms outstretched to symbolize people working together across boundaries for peace and an end of prejudice and violence. | |
